elcome to the Flatlanders Dressage & Combined Training Assocation, Inc.? website!
We are a grassroots club, serving riders in Northwest Ohio for 20 years. Our members are in Wood, Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Seneca, and Van Wert Counties.
Our Club has two nicknames: FDCTA (from our official name) and Flatlanders. We?e called Flatlanders not because we often do flying dismounts and land flat on our backs, but because the land in Northwest Ohio is typically flat, flat, flat!
Several of our founding member are still active in the Club. They are always ready and willing to help other members improve their riding, horsemanship, and horse management skills.
any of our members participate in fox hunts, point-to-points, schooling shows, rated shows, trail rides, parades, and a myriad of other equine activities. We?e a pretty diverse group! The History portion of our site gives you a good idea of some of our other activities.
Each year we hold three to five members-only fun shows at our members farms. The shows are informal opportunities to test our Dressage skills to see how we?e progressing. Dress is very informal and the fee is minimal. (Of course, the best part of the day is lunch!)
Our Extensions Program, modeled along the lines of the U.S. Pony Club, is designed to encourage members to improve their skills in all equine areas. Check out the Extensions portion of our site for more information.
Our monthly meetings, which are held on the first Tuesday, are in a different member? home each month. Our evening typically begins with an educational program, then moves to a business meeting. (Of course, after the meeting, we often have a barn tour!) For information about our meetings, see the calendar portion of the site.
